Our school doors open at 7:30 am on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. In order for your child to ride the early bus, he/she must acquire a bus pass from one of their teachers; this time is designated for extra academic assistance with teachers.
Wednesdays are meeting days for teachers and staff; please do not bring students early on this day. Thank you.
SCHOOL NEWS
1st Week of School:
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 3rd; Students will attend classes that Friday, September 5th. Our four-day, Monday through Tursday, school week will commence the second week of school. We will continue to remind you of days when students attend on Friday. You may print a copy of our yearly claendar at www.colton.k12.or.us or request a hard comp from our office.
CMS News:
The 2013-2014 school year marks the 19th year in which "CMS News" has informed parents, community members and patrons of CMS news. "CMS News" will be sent home, with students, once a month and contain the monthly lunch menu, reminders of important upcomming events and dates, along with school news. Please be sure to ask your son or daughter for your copy of "Raider News": or visit our website at WWW.colton.k12.or.us/cms
CMS Open House:
Colton Middle School will be hosting our Annual Open House on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 beginning promptly at 6:00 pm in the commons. You will be introduced to staff and hear about services provided for all students. Parents may later visit with teachers of their choice. Our goal is that all parents will have met all of their children's teachers.
PE Uniforms:
PE uniforms are required for all students attending a PE class. Our uniform consists of a gray T-shirt and elastic topped black shorts. CMS has a limited supply of PE uniforms which will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Students may wear plain black shorts and a gray T-shirt if a uniform is not purchased at CMS.
Medication at School:
Please remember that students are not allowed to have any type of medication (over the counter or prescription) on their person.
AN ADULT MUST BRING MEDICATION, IN ITS ORIGINAL CONTAINER, TO THE SCHOOL OFFICE. A "Medication Authorization Form" must be completed before leaving medication with the office staff. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call the CMS office at 503.824.2319
School Lunches:
Hot lunches are a pre-pay or pay as you go basis. Inquiries should be directed to Kerri Coleman at 503.824.2311 X256. Thank You.
Student Store:
CMS has a student store available to students before school and at lunch. There are a variety of items available for purchase.
Box Top$ for Education:
Our school is participating in Box Tops for Education. Tell your friends about it! This is an easy way to earn cash for our school. For more information visit their website at www.boxtops4education.com

Lunch Donation Fund:
In these troubling financial times, many families are finding it difficult to provide breakfast and lunch for their children. The Colton School District has created a donation fund to assist these families.
Any amount you could provide would help these families purchase healthy school meals for their children.
Studies have shown the many benefits school children receive when they have daily access to healthy meals. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to help our children make the best of their time in school. Donations may be made out to the CSD Food Service and mailed to: Colton School District Office: 30429 S. Grays Hill Road, Colton, Oregon 97017 OR
You may make your donation by credit/debit card through the Payschools website. Go to our web page, www.colton.k12.or.us, click on “District Services”, then “Food Services.” There you will see the Payschools link. Questions? Call the Colton School District Office @ 503 824-3535. Thank you.
SPORTS:
Students who plan on participating in CMS sports must complete and submit the following to the office prior to participation:
· Athletic Participation Packet
· Doctor’s physical (A new physical is required every two years).
· Pay to Participate Fee of $100.00 per sport
Following are sports currently offered at CMS:
· September-October (7th and 8th Grade)
o Volleyball
o Football
· November-December (7th and 8th Grade)
o Girls Basketball
· January-February (7th and 8th Grade)
o Boys Basketball
· February-March (7th and 8th Grade)
o Wrestling
· March-May (6th, 7th and 8th Grade)
o Track
6th grade students have the opportunity to participate in soccer, basketball, baseball and softball. These sports are offered through Colton Youth Sports. (503-824-2088)
COMMUNITY NEWS
Colton Clothes Closet:
The Clothes Closet is open Wednesdays during the school year from 12:30-3:00 pm. They are always grateful for new things including clothes in great condition for men, women and children. Donations may be dropped off any time our school is open. Thank you for your generosity. Any questions please call 503-824-2319. There is a large selection of shorts for all members of the family.
Colton Farmers and Crafters Market:
The Colton Farmers and Crafters Market is back again for another season!! The market will be held at the ColtonTel Green Space every 2nd and 4th Sunday starting in June and
ending in September from 10 am - 3 pm. We plan to have music, demonstrators, and local non-profit organizations doing fundraisers such as a car washes, barbeques, etc. at each market
day and each market will have a theme.
If you are interested in participating as a vendor or fundraiser, please contact Patty at 503-829-2215, email: [email protected] or go to the website (coltonfarmerscraftersmarket.weebly.com.) to download the application forms.
